Enjoy AVATAR 3D on Youtube! Instructions After the big success of "OCULUS RIFT" on the CES and the anouncement that they want to intergrate a 7" Display i looked @ my NEXUS 7" and made this weekend Project: First attemp to build a huge 3D Viewer for my GOOGLE NEXUS 7 I don´t have any clue about 3D, Optics or VR - but i Tell you this thing works - it is a lot of Fun. I Added some Lenses from the children binoculars of my son ( i promised to give them back) Known issues from wearing it: it is huge! - if anybody is better in optical stuff than me it is perhaps better to reduce the gap beetween the Nexus and the lenses to reduce the size - you will need different lenses for this - im the Moment they Focus on About 150mm. it is heavy! - reduce the size would help - a second strap on the Head would be a good Idea too it is not really comfortable - the lenses should be not sticking to your nose - and the frame should be upholstered - it is even a liitlle to big even for my big head! it is not so easy to get the Films on the NEXUS! - No Flash anymore on Adroid? Why? - it took me a whole Day to run the 3D function in Youtube via Firefox and secretly hidden Flash! No Clue why they did this! Thankfully there are some "3d Picture APPS" in the Playstore so i could try if it works without Films! You have to remove the Device and the "Dividing Wall" to get Access to the screen to Start a Film - so don´t glue it together - perhaps it would be good to use the screen as a Monitor at your PC - but i don´t know how it works! No Head Tracking! - Snif! - but i added an IPHONE 4s Bracket on the Top of the Device - Perhaps anybody has an Idea how to add a easy Head Tracking - Geeks help me. So if anybody wants to Join the ultimate VR Gaming Headset..... ;-) When i have Time i will work on the 2.0 Frame! Building Tips, Made on the Replicator 2 Low quality for testing - you should add "ears" on the Frame and on the Adapter to avoid curling of the edges - looks better Paint it black!
