The socket caters to a 5mm LED and a battery without trimming the leads. To assemble, pass the leads through the top holes of the socket, insert the battery via the bottom hole, and reverse it if the bulb fails to light. The fit should be snug. Keep the leads out of the way by bending them around the base and securing in the grooves.
