ZX Spectrum Sprites

thingiverse

Printable sprites from Jet Set Willy, Horace Goes Skiing, Head Over Heels and others. A number of the models are designed to have the filament swapped mid-print. In Cura, you can use the Pause At Height script for this (by default, the place to pause is at 2mm, as the models are 4mm thick). This is for sprites which have detached pieces, so would be unprintable without a background. Printing the first half in black the the rest in white gives a good effect (see image). Alternatively, you could paint in the black or white bits after printing. Also, see the note below about School Daze sprites. Other than that, this is a simple print - print laying flat, no support needed and minimal infill. These will stand up, but scale up the thickness if you want them to be a bit more solid. If you do scale them, remember to adjust the pause height so it's still in the middle of the model. You may get a warning about the meshes being non-manifold or not watertight, due to the way the images have been converted, but they should print fine. Note on School Daze sprites: these sprites are black on a white background, so should be printed with white lower layers and black upper layers. For these, the pause height should be 3mm, so just the top 1mm prints in black.
