Iron-bearing raw materials for blast furnace production include iron ore, reductants such as coal and coke fuel, and fluxes like limestone or chalk.\nThe primary goal of the blast furnace process is to produce stable quality pig iron for converter steel production. Typically, steelmaking requires a maximum temperature cast iron (1480-1520°C at discharge), containing 0.3-0.7% silicon, 0.2-0.4% manganese, and 0.06-0.13% phosphorus.\nThe diameter of the blast furnace in modern large-scale furnaces is 14-15 meters, height - 35 meters, and internal volume around 4500 cubic meters. One such blast furnace can produce 10,000 tons of pig iron per day.
